Legal Help and Advice
As a disabled child or young person you have rights under the law.

Under The Children Act 1989 and the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice, you have a right to be asked what you want. Social Services, schools, and the Local Education Authority have to make sure your views are taken into account. If you are in the care of the local authority, you have a right to be told about what is happening to you and to be asked what you want.

Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001, you have a right to be treated as fairly as any child or young person without a disability. You also have a right to be able to access any service, such as Social Services, Education, Youth Services (youth clubs), shops, leisure centres, etc.
